Bless My Little Son poem
Build confidence into the heart of a boy by finding. at the very least, one thing to praise him for daily! - Dr. Grace Ketterman, M.D.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in over-halls and looks like work." ~ Thomas Edison
"Simply be better than anyone who hates you." ~ Detective William Murdoch, Murdoch Mysteries.
Throw kindness around like confetti.
To My Son: I closed my eyes for but a moment and suddenly a man stood where a boy used to be. I may not carry you anymore but I will always carry you in my heart. Love mom!

Later, when we began to homeschool our son after five years of difficult public schooling in three different elementary schools, I stumbled across this verse and took it as a promise from my faithful God. - Isaiah 54: 10-14a = Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you. "O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires, I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones. All your sons will be taught by the Lord, and great will be your children's peace. In righteousness you will be established..."
Jeremiah 17:7-8 = Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. WONDERFUL MEMORIES:
When our son was about 4 or 5, we used a couple of nicknames for him. His daddy was called DEAR and he was either Punkin or Sonny Boy. One day he came home from visiting a friend and he announced that we were to call him Sweetheart instead, so we tried our best to please him. After awhile, he decided he wanted his old nicknames back. He said he missed them. smile!
During our first teacher-parent conference with his kindergarten teacher, we learned that the teacher suspected that our son was color blind because he turned the crayon over to read the name of the color on the side. I'm glad he learned to adapt.
We've spent a few family vacations at ZOO's, namely the Kansas City Zoo, the Omaha, NE zoo, St. Louis Zoo, and visited the Topeka, KS Zoo during a kindergarten field trip.
After 4th grade, we homeschooled our son. One thing we did annually was to engage in any Passport programs we found out about in our homeschooling support group or discovered at our local tourist office such as Kansas City's Passport to Adventure Hunt and the Mo. Conservation Lewis and Clark's Passport Program and the Missouri State Parks passport program. Most of these were science sites with a historic twist. All of them came with a small passport booklet that were stamped at all the sites we visited and after completing the list of sites, our names were entered into a drawing for a grand prize. It was a lot of fun and we learned how we can be good stewards of our earth.
Our son and his dad took several classes together such as the Saturday classes at Home Depot and several Mo. Conservation classes for guys like fishing and hunting type workshops. Then he, his dad, grandfather and uncles went hunting pheasants together one fall out in western Kansas.
In high school homeschool, our son learned about his United Kingdom (Britain, Ireland, Scottish, & Wales) heritage and read several William Shakespeare stories.
Beginning in the Tiger level, our son worked his way up to the Webelo's level in Cub Scouts. We hoped he would be able to complete his Boy Scouting all the way up, but sadly, we could not get someone to take on starting up a Boy Scout troop in our homeschool support group.
Our son is a book-a-holic like his mom and dad! He loves his books and he and his dad's favorite bookstore is Half-Price Books.

Some favorite books we used to read together were "Love You Forever. By Robert Munsch;"
"Little Men. By Louisa May Alcott;" a child's version of the Bible; and he loved to listen to the radio when Focus on the Family's Odyssey was on!

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. (Hebrews 12:28).
